Artist(s): Nan Goldin
Date: January 12, 1994
In 1992, Nan Goldin presented three short slideshows at The Kitchen. This screening marked the first time these works-in-progress were seen in the United States. They formed part of The Kitchen’s literature series curated by Ira Silverberg. The first slideshow was created in relationship to her 1992 book The Other Side, which considered the lives of drag queens. The second included a series of self-portraits, while the third was comprised of images of her three close friends who lived with and died of AIDS: Alf Bold, Cookie Mueller, and Gilles Dusein.
