Aquaural

Artist(s): Kit Fitzgerald, John Sanborn

Date: June 6, 1978-June 17, 1978

Aquaral was a color video/stereo sound installation by Kit Fitzgerald and John Sanborn that was exhibited at The Kitchen from June 6-17, 1978. Each video channel presented a representation of water in a unique form, only possible because of its filmic representation. Sonic attributes of water (dripping, splashing, etc.) played in a random order to complicated the viewers' expectations of the way water appears in the natural world. In the center of the space, hanging above a trough of water, was a scrim onto which slow motion, manipulated images of water were projected.
